Sink or Swim

By: The Phantom Hours

Oh, over the river I found you, trying to swim across with your arms behind your back.
Sinking, sinking down and struggling, lonelier than a wolf without his pack.

And oh, brace yourself, cause' it's sink or swim, no one's following you in.
Steel yourself, cause' it's sink or swim, aint no one gonna follow you in.

But you're strong enough, and I know you'll make it, come out sopping wet with your battle scars.
And the sunshine, sunshine will dry you, lay out in the field till it's all gone.

But brace, brace yourself cause' it's sink or swim, no one's gonna follow you in.
You should brace yourself, cause' it's sink or swim, ain't no one gonna follow you in.

And I'll tell you, just like I told you, "I'll love you till the end, cause' you're my friend".
I'll be here, standing with you, mine's a shoulder you can always count on.

Brace, brace yourself, cause it's sink or swim, there ain't no one that can follow you in.
Brace yourself, cause it's sink or swim, ain't no one gonna follow you in.

This is a song about a friend who was having trouble with his present situation, where he lived, how he was living, missing family in a different part of the country, and just generally missing out on what life had to offer. This song was meant to be encouraging to him and honest as well.
