BIOGRAPHY
Pronunciation
Joy ("Joy") Eggerichs ("EGG-er-RICH")
"Papa Bear" Bio
Joy Eggerichs served as the Director of Love and Respect Now from 2008-2015. She began her journey in ministry working as the Love and Respect Conference Coordinator for her parents, Dr. Emerson and Sarah Eggerichs. Over time, she noticed a trend: people would come out of the conference sessions saying, “Why didn’t anyone teach us this before we got married? If only I knew then, what I know now.”
Fueled by a passion to provide this information to her generation, Joy launched a division of Love and Respect that she appropriately titled “Love and Respect Now.” She researched 18- to 35-year olds and desired to serve the next generation of people who are single, dating, or married.
Joy's desire was to get beyond the surface to the heart of the matter. On her site, www.loveandrespectnow.com, people wrote in their relationship questions and Joy responded in video or a written post sharing her opinions, research results, or additional thought-provoking questions. She tackled tough topics in her writings and communicated with transparency and humor, creating both a bond and the right to be heard with her generation.
A gifted public speaker, Joy captivates audiences by sharing stories from her own life struggles and victories, often engaging in live “Ask Joy” sessions with her audience.
In 2013, Joy released a 6-week small group study called The Illumination Project. As a candid conversation with her father, Emerson Eggerichs, The Illumination Project was filmed in front of a live audience of 1,300, 18- to 35-year olds and exemplifies Joy’s heart to get her generation discussing faith, life, and relationships. Focusing on asking questions to gain wisdom from those who have gone ahead, The Illumination Project also serves as a unique tool to connect with older, wiser counsel.
Joy graduated with a degree in Communications Studies from Westmont College in 2004. She resides in Portland, Oregon, surrounded by a large demographic of young people she can access for her projects. Many of them share her love of coffee, biking, and minimal hair washings.
