Ask Joy: My Head told My Heart…

Not gonna lie, weirdest video to date. I blame it on fatigue. It was the last of four Ask Joy’s shot in one shoot.  I was tired and when I get tired on camera, I somehow appear to have more energy.

You’re welcome.

Ask Joy

Why is it so hard to let go of feelings for someone you know isn’t good for you?

My Response

Never heard of the band Mumford & Sons that I so beautifully vocalized? Maybe you live under a rock, or hate my blog.

Back when only my friend Val read my blog, I posted this video which is the song Mumford & Sons played at the Grammy Awards Sunday night.

And, if you will notice, lead singer Mumf and I are wearing matching outfits as we sing.  I shot this video well over a month ago. Coincidence or destiny? Or both?

Did you know that Fergi was picked up by the Black Eyed Peas because she sent them a demo with her singing all their tracks? Maybe not, but that’s what I heard and it’s a nice story.

Mumford & Sons: Let this video be my demo. My vision is us playing next years Superbowl together. Pray about it.

And for all you old and new fans of the group, I have a couple songs that I know are hard to get a hold of.  Let’s just say…I know a guy.

Mumford & Sons: I Take Your Hand

Mumford & Sons: Thumper

      So special.

P.S. The deep, husky voice is definitely the way to Marcus’ heart

      So, I’m old.

Thanks for putting the songs on the bottom for your clueless readers …. I listened to those first, which made me feel like I was hip and cool and groovy enough to appreciate the full extent of your ask joy vid…

yeah, your dad is right… you are a HOOT! :))

“My feelings may be real, but are they right?” is a wise discerning question. God will give us the strength and self control to follow His heart…if we desire it; especially in the battle between the flesh and Spirit. Long term blessings abide in the Spirit! Matt 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. New to your blog…Thx for the passionate introduction to Mumford & Sons! U rock!!

This is so much better than that magic 8-ball I used to take advice from.

Thank you, Joy Mumford. Thank you.

Alece – My goal in life will be to make you say that every time a new video comes out. Yes, my goal…in life.

Mike – Do you know how we can get this video to him? Please help.

Becca – I’ve been in your life since you were a baby and had one curl on top of your head. I’m not going anywhere.

Stacy – I hope you did a jig. That’s what I did at their concert.

Lisa – Thanks. I truly have to ask myself that question FREQUENTLY.

David – I have been saying Joy Mumford over and over to myself. Then I start singing the Carey/Houston duet that says, “You will when you BELIEVE.”

John B – Who said that??

For the record, in my Bookmarks Bar, Love and Respect NOW is STILL listed as RIDGEWOOD ROCK.

      Thanks for the props.

And by “props” I mean shout-out. Though I think I can count the hyper-link to my poorly maintained blog props.

Thank you so much for this post– it came in perfect timing in my life. Last week I broke up with someone who I love dearly, but my family and friends have voiced numerous concerns about. I’m a single mom, so I have my son to watch out for as well as myself, so I decided to heed the counsel of those around me, even though it totally FEELS like the wrong decision to be making. So internally I am having this war of head vs. heart… what I know I needed to do vs. what I want to be doing. It’s a hard place to be in. Thank you for the encouragement and the great blog!

Val – Woah, you are hardcore. Ridgewood Rock til’ I die.

Mimi – So glad you were encouraged!

Heather – Woah! You have no idea how hearing this blesses me. Praying you see His favor in the midst of your obedience. Keep good support around you and cling to Truth!! Love to you.

Diane – Highlight of my day is seeing that YOU commented on my blog. I am planning on telling my twitter followers to check out your new blog. I am so excited to learn about scripture more through your teaching. And I need to let the world know that I stole the “FROM MY HEART” phrase from YOU. Thank you for sharing. (-:

Lindsay – “hit it from the high note!”

Hi Joy, I heard it from a guy named Darrell. Probably didn’t originate with him though.

John – Oh that Darrell. Get’s me every time.

Sharideth – “Hi, My name is Joy.”

Katie – I don’t know what we called you, but I sure miss morning prayer and making you do wind sprints to your desk and back.

Hayley – I will earn my keep, don’t you worry. But I swear, if I wake up and you are clipping my toenails again… Oh wait…we’ve never met.

Watched it. Love it. There is a men’s group at my church who call themselves Men of God Who Love Women with Husky Voices (MGWLWHV, or, the MG’s). They’re all ex soccer and hockey players between the ages of 28-40 who play with inner city children on weekends and give their moms neck massage coupons for Mother’s Day.

Erin – You had me until “neck massage coupons for Mother’s Day.” These are grown men. That’s just weird.

OK, I’m over it. Have them call me.
