Ask Joy: “Kind of Accidentally”

Ask Joy

Can friends who “kind of accidentally” hook up, stay friends?

My Response

(Disclaimer: I blame the weirdness of this video on my friend Lindsay.  She was in the room with me and brings it out full force.)

Book Recommendation: Hooked by M.D. Joe S. McIlhaney Jr. and M.D. Freda McKissic Bush

I kind of accidentally cheated on my taxes. Is that the same thing?

David – Yes. Unless you and your Taxes hadn’t had a DTR.

Elizabeth – Are you making fun of my musical giftings?

I “kind of accidentally” walked out of Target without paying for something! Seriously. It was $6.99 and was underneath my baby’s carseat (so technically he stole it!)….I am going back tomorrow to pay for it….I Promise!!! I now understand the guilt of “kind of accidentally”…..

also….you remind me of Lisa Loeb with those glasses and guitar….just saying.
was it an “accident” or did you “kind of” mean to do that… 😀

Sarah – They are my reading glasses. I was trying to go for a new look for the video. But as you can imagine they are only for things “up close.” Needless to say, the room was spinning and I wanted to throw up on the Beanie Baby.

“I desire to honor God with my holiness, and my horniness…” so, so quotable.

of course it is possible but what does accidentally mean? Does this mean both people were intoxicated and didn’t know what they were doing?

Erin – You will need to re-watch it to get the exact quote. Otherwise I will have to sue you.

      Ana – There’s a good chance, but we don’t know since it’s an anonymous submission. That’s why I like to kind of make fun of the statement so that people realize they need to take a look at how “accidentally” happened, and work back from there. “Accident” implies there’s nothing we could have done to prevent it. That’s why my examples were so “realistic.” (-;

Sometimes we just have to laugh at our own justifications and re-framing of responsibility.

Oh my goodness, where were you and these videos when I was in college?? I love that you talk about the necessity of understanding our bodies and the purpose of sex from the standpoint of scripture! So good.

I’m trying not to overanalyze the use of the name “Richard” here. 😉

Haley – Um, I would like to know where “this” Joy was too. I could have used her in college as well. Thanks!

Val – Jenny said the same thing. Truly I wasn’t even thinking about our beloved mentor…I have some default names that just fly out of my mouth. Sheila, Nancy, Billy, Johnny and of course, thanks to Tommy Boy…”RICHARD.”
